What each seal state means

UPDATED 24.10.2026 · 4 MIN

Every seal has a band, which says how strong the record is, and a state, which says whether anyone can rely on it today. Buyers see both on the check page.

The states

  • Issued or renewed: valid. The card shows VALID TO a date.
  • Expiring: valid, but within 60 days of its valid-to date. The renewal window is open. See renewing a seal.
  • Suspended: under review. The score is frozen and the seal should not be treated as current. Printing of stamps and labels is paused. See what to do when a seal is suspended.
  • Expired: past its valid-to date and not renewed. Buyers see it as expired and the history stays public. You can still renew for a period after expiry; the seal page shows the date.
  • Revoked: withdrawn by Passmark. It cannot be renewed, and any label, certificate or badge carrying the ID must stop being used. Passmark needs a second sign-off to revoke.

Where you see them

Seals groups your seals as Issued or renewed, Expiring, Suspended, Expired and Revoked, with the relevant date on each.
