What you need for United Kingdom

UK Market Access

Official certificate from Ghana competent authority (GB special conditions, aflatoxins)

In Great Britain, Ghana groundnuts are in Annex II of assimilated Reg 2019/1793 (special conditions for entry, aflatoxins, 50 % checks). Every consignment of in-shell or shelled groundnuts, peanut butter, groundnut paste, other prepared groundnuts, flours or oilcake must travel with an official certificate issued by the competent authority of Ghana. Groundnut oil is not listed.

Issuer: Competent authority of Ghana
required
Aflatoxin test certificate from an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited lab (per consignment)

Each Annex II consignment must be accompanied by the results of sampling and analysis for aflatoxins, carrying the consignment identification code and performed by a laboratory accredited to ISO/IEC 17025. GB limits (assimilated Reg 1881/2006): groundnuts and products for direct consumption or as an ingredient, aflatoxin B1 2.0 µg/kg and total 4.0 µg/kg; groundnuts to be sorted, 8.0 / 15.0 µg/kg.

Issuer: ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory
required
Vegetable oil contaminant test certificate (GB limits: PAH, 3-MCPD, glycidyl esters)

Only if you export sesame oil or groundnut oil. GB limits (assimilated Reg 1881/2006) for oils for direct human consumption or as a food ingredient: benzo(a)pyrene 2.0 µg/kg and the sum of four PAHs 10.0 µg/kg (6.1.1); sum of 3-MCPD and its fatty acid esters 2,500 µg/kg for "other vegetable oils" (4.3.1); glycidyl fatty acid esters 1,000 µg/kg (4.2.1). Only crude oil for refining and refined oil are outside the oilseed aflatoxin limit, so unrefined oil sold as it is must meet B1 2.0 µg/kg and total 4.0 µg/kg (2.1.5).

Issuer: ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory
recommended
Importer pre-notification of high-risk food before arrival in GB

Importers must pre-notify the authorities before high-risk food and feed arrives in Great Britain, and the goods enter through a designated border control post. This is the GB importer's filing, but it needs your certificate and lab report details.

Issuer: GB importer (FSA / Defra controls)
recommended
Peanut and sesame allergen labelling (consumer packs, GB)

In Great Britain, peanuts and products thereof and sesame seeds and products thereof are listed allergens (assimilated Reg 1169/2011, Annex II items 5 and 11), with no exemption for their oils. Consumer packs of peanut butter, groundnut paste, roasted nuts, groundnut oil, sesame seed or sesame oil must clearly indicate the allergen. Bulk product for processing does not carry the consumer label.

Issuer: Exporter / packer (self-declared)
