Sesame export requirements for United Kingdom

Great Britain applies assimilated Reg (EC) 1881/2006, where oilseeds cover CN 1201 to 1207 (sesame is 1207 40). Oilseeds to be sorted or otherwise physically treated: aflatoxin B1 ≤ 8.0 µg/kg, total ≤ 15.0 µg/kg (2.1.1). Oilseeds for direct human consumption or use as an ingredient: B1 ≤ 2.0 µg/kg, total ≤ 4.0 µg/kg (2.1.5).

Only if you export sesame oil or groundnut oil. GB limits (assimilated Reg 1881/2006) for oils for direct human consumption or as a food ingredient: benzo(a)pyrene 2.0 µg/kg and the sum of four PAHs 10.0 µg/kg (6.1.1); sum of 3-MCPD and its fatty acid esters 2,500 µg/kg for "other vegetable oils" (4.3.1); glycidyl fatty acid esters 1,000 µg/kg (4.2.1). Only crude oil for refining and refined oil are outside the oilseed aflatoxin limit, so unrefined oil sold as it is must meet B1 2.0 µg/kg and total 4.0 µg/kg (2.1.5).

Under the UK–Ghana Interim Trade Partnership Agreement the UK gives duty-free, quota-free access to goods exported from Ghana. The preference is claimed with proof of origin under the agreement’s rules of origin (a EUR.1 movement certificate, or an origin declaration where the agreement allows one).

In Great Britain, peanuts and products thereof and sesame seeds and products thereof are listed allergens (assimilated Reg 1169/2011, Annex II items 5 and 11), with no exemption for their oils. Consumer packs of peanut butter, groundnut paste, roasted nuts, groundnut oil, sesame seed or sesame oil must clearly indicate the allergen. Bulk product for processing does not carry the consumer label.
