How Passmark checks a document

UPDATED 24.10.2026 · 3 MIN

Each document carries an evidence level that says how it was checked. Higher levels count more toward your score.

The levels

  • Self-declared: you entered the details. It counts least. Upload the original to get it auto-checked.
  • Auto-checked: Passmark read the details from your file automatically.
  • Confirmed: the issuer confirmed it. This is the highest level and counts fully.

Why it matters

The top band, Passmark Verified, needs a score of 85 or more and at least one current document confirmed by the issuer that issued it. To get there, ask an issuer to confirm a document.

File fingerprint

When you upload, Passmark computes a SHA-256 fingerprint of the file. Any change to the file changes the fingerprint. You can see it, and the version history, on the document.
